You've all brought such amazing music into my life over the last 18 months. Living in Maine means that we don't get a lot of live musicians of diversified backgrounds. Coming in to Second Life and having the opportunity to listen to the notes that fall so beautifully and the voices that ride on them has been like a breath of summer in February. I couldn't say thank you enough for what you do. I know none of you get rich on your SL music, but you share it with us as though you were. you come and donate your time, your tunes and your talent to us so unselfishly. I am so honored to be in your audience.
You give so freely to the charities in Second Life. I feel guilty every time I have to ask you for more. Please know that I'd happily give you all the lindens, dollars and euros in the world for what you bring to us. They just won't let me have them :)
I've been all choked up for days thinking about this - what it means and how many lives all of you do and will touch. You've been so generous in letting us compile the CD and donating your proceeds...cause they are by all rights yours, to Amnesty for the sale of those CDs. Not one said well, let me think about it, or I wish that I could or anything...but yes. That's the generosity of spirit that IS going to change the direction of this world.
Amnesty does that one person at a time. You do it note by note. Together, on projects like this, we do it hand in hand, voices rising into pixelated and deep blue skies and it reaches through the screen and touches the heart. Not just mine, but everyone who's lucky enough to be within listening distance.
Before I get way too sappy , which is totally my nature., please, let me say thank you and we, all the listeners, all the lives that your music will touch in deep dark lonely cells, we are the real winners here. I wish I had crowns enough for all of you. Each and every one of you rules in my world.
Thank you.
I have to tell you that this is a bittersweet moment. I am not sure that I could have voted even if I were eligible. The songs submitted, each of them deserves to be a winner today and, in fact, they all are as far as we are concerned.
The song chosen by the voting Amnesty International-E members is The Test by Shannon Oherlihy.
.
Again, thank you to ALL!! We are honored and blessed to share in your amazing works of art. I hope that all of you will be a part of the machinima production and congratulate yourselves for your marvelous submissions.
Congratulations, Shannon, on a most beautiful piece.
