Well, I’m afraid that we’re losing both of our group leaders in the coming weeks. Elye needs to devote more time to real life and Gamma has some new responsibilities in world that prevent him from continuing to act solely in a leadership role.
So, this is a call for leadership!
The responsibilities are not as all consuming as one might think and can easily be split between a couple or even a few people. We already have a member interested in taking over the management of benefits and events. We’d like to find someone to handle the newsletter and website* and another to work on special focus issues.
(*A new site administrator has been recruited.)
I will continue in my role as coordinator and will offer training and support for the group as a whole. I’ll also continue to post notices regarding amnesty information that I receive as coordinator.
If you’re interested in what these roles might require or if you’d like to do a specific thing but not commit to leadership, please do let me know. It would be great to get things rolling.
We’d also like to thank Elye and Gamma for all of their hard work with Amnesty. You guys have done incredible things and should be proud of your work. We’re sorry to see you leave the leadership roles but happy that you will be continuing on as group members.
Also, just as an aside, this would be a great time to consider becoming an Amnesty member in the physical world. Amnesty is feeling the crunch of the economic climate which, unfortunately means that the people that we strive to help will be feeling it as well. Amnesty membership contributes in more ways than financial. It adds your name to the rooster of people working on human rights.
